Wedding Day Tips

I will leave a list of resources that could be useful on your wedding day. This will be especially helpful if you don’t have a wedding planner. If your friends and family are helping out with the wedding day plans, share this link with them!

Bowties & Boutonnieres

Bowties: This one is for all: bride, groom, parents, wedding party. If you wear a bowtie or traditional tie, please practice putting it on.

Boutonnieres: If your florist will not be helping out with pinning boutonnieres, designate a friend or family member to help.

Is your friend officating your wedding? If you’d like your wedding guests to stand when you or your partner walk down the aisle, the officiant will have to let the wedding guests know. Often officiants forget to let the wedding guests know when to stand.

Ceremony Tips

Remind family and friends it’s okay to fill up the aisle seats!

If you like the idea of confetti for the ceremony exit, avoid the ones that pop out of a canister! They often get misfired upside down. Also, remind wedding guests to throw the confetti up in the air, not at you. The other option is to have your wedding party handle all the confetti fun!

Unplugged Ceremony?

This is a matter of preference. I’ve had couples who adored having their wedding guests step into the aisle for photos, while others preferred an unplugged ceremony or requested the officiant to remind guests to put away their cell phones. Either way, decide before the big day!

Outdoor Summer Wedding?

If you're getting married in the Hudson Valley area during the summer, make sure to have bug spray handy for the evening part of your wedding, especially if you'll be near dense woods. Lyme disease has been a significant concern in the Dutchess County area. Additionally, if you spend the weekend in the Hudson Valley area and plan on bringing your pup, limit their time in the woods. Since 2023, I’ve seen more cases of dogs contracting canine leptospirosis from wild animals.

Want to include family members but don’t have a wedding party?

You can ask your special people to come dressed in blue!

Limited Amount of Time for Family Photos?

Consider taking family photos together instead of splitting up the groups. Family photos can be done under ten minutes!
