YOUR PHOTOS
Timeline + Shot List Advice
Your wedding day is not a photoshoot; it’s a day to celebrate the beginning of your marriage with each other and with family and friends. Yes, this sounds like a quote straight from Pinterest. ha!
But this is the advice I give to all my clients. My work lives in documenting people’s lives, so naturally, everything from the day is documented, even down to the smallest details, but something such as a long list of requested photos can make the day feel disjointed for you two.
So, how do you communicate with me what’s important to be documented?
About two months before your wedding day, you will be asked to fill out your questionnaire, and we will hop on a call to go over the photographer’s timeline.
Family Photos
Keep the family shot list short.
All your family members will want a photo with both of you, but consider taking photos with immediate family members first during family photo time.
Do you need separate photos?
Consider staying together for all the group photos instead of splitting up the families. Besides, you’re married now, you’re ALL family. :)
Ways to include extended family and guests in photos: If you’re feeling guilty about leaving long-distance relatives off the main shot list you could…
include distant relatives by asking them to dress in blue! Or have them gather for one big group photo.
Does going from table to table really work for family photos?
It depends- if you hope to dance the night away with your partner during the reception- then a table-to-table visit will be a challenge. Each table you visit will require a few minutes of chatting, followed by selfies. If you’re okay with spending time at each table, then totally go for it!

Your Photos & Timeline
If you like the artistic portraits, allow time for it.
35 mins getting ready photos
20 mins flatlay photos
15 mins for first look
35 -40 mins for your portraits, 15 mins each for individual portraits
depending on the size, 15- 20 mins for wedding party photos
depending on the size of your family shot list, allow 25 mins
If your day is jam-packed, decide early on what to prioritize
Make it stand out.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
